Entrepreneur Interview: Chirag Shah
Interview with Chirag Shah, co-founder at Rymo, on rehabilitiative tech
Chirag Shah is the 26 year old co-founder of Rymo Technologies, which developed Mobi-L, India’s first robotic and VR based technology for upper and lower limb rehabilitation.
Working out of a small office in Mumbai, with a dedicated and diverse engineering team with expertise in mechanics, electronics, robotics, software and game development, Rymo is on a mission to transform India’s rehabilitative care infrastructure.
I had the opportunity to chat with Chirag on his journey so far, and what he Rymo has in store for the future. If you are fascinated with pathbreaking innovations and stories behind them, this is an interview you don’t want to miss! Chirag is also a natural teacher as I found out during this interview.
Rehabilitative care is an important aspect of (long-term) holistic healthcare and addresses recovery needs upon a physical injury, stroke or mental trauma. Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists are trained to provide rehab care and the Rehabilitative Act of India (RCI Act) identifies 16 additional categories of rehabilitation personnel (speech pathologists, hearing and ear mould technicians, etc).
According to the WHO website, rehabilitation is defined “a set of interventions designed to optimize functioning and reduce disability in individuals with health conditions in interaction with their environment”. Put simply, rehabilitation helps a child, adult or older person to be as independent as possible in everyday activities and enables participation in education, work, recreation and meaningful life roles such as taking care of family. It does so by addressing underlying conditions (such as pain) and improving the way an individual functions in everyday life, supporting them to overcome difficulties with thinking, seeing, hearing, communicating, eating or moving around.
